XOP 2.0 FOR UNIX (Installation notes) ===================================== Supported platforms (minimum release) and XOP file to install: -------------------------------------------------------------- Alpha Digital Unix (4.0) : xop2.0_alpha.tar.Z HP PA-RISC HP-UX (10.20) : xop2.0_hp.tar.Z IBM Intel x86 Linux ( kernel < 2.2) : xop2.0_linux.tar.gz IBM Intel x86 Linux ( kernel >= 2.2) : xop2.0_linux2.tar.gz (See note below) SGI Mips Irix (6.2) : xop2.0_irix.tar.Z SUN SPARC Solaris 2 (2.6) : xop2.0_sun5.tar.Z Installation instructions: -------------------------- 1) Download the file to the root directory where you want to install xop example: cd /users/me/programs cp /cdrom/Install-Unix/xop2.0_linux.tar.gz . 2) extract the files (a directory called xop2.0 will be created) <> Linux: gunzip -c xop2.0_.tar.gz | tar xvf - <> Unix: zcat xop2.0_.tar.Z | tar xvf - 3) Change directory to the new created directory and edit the script file "xop". Place your installation path in the environment variable "XOP_HOME" 4) run xop by entering: ./xop 5) If wanted, include the xop directory or better a link to the xop script in your path. Notes: ------ Users installing XOP under Linux using Suse 7.0 or more ------------------------------------------------------- XOP requires the shlibs5 package (which contains the libc5 library). This package is not an installation default in the standard Suse Linux 7.0 Please install it before starting XOP. To check if the shlibs5 package is installed in your system, enter at the Unix prompt: rpm -qi shlibs5
